Materials that survive a Dubai summer
An outdoor kitchen lives at surface temperatures that ruin indoor materials. Counters are stone or a dense porcelain that does not stain or craze; carcasses are masonry or marine-grade stainless rather than timber or board; appliances and fixings are rated for outdoor use, and near the coast every piece of steel is 316 stainless. What looks fine in a showroom and fails by the second summer is exactly what we leave out.
Services, planned before the paving
A working outdoor kitchen needs gas or power for the grill, water in and drainage out for the sink, power for the fridge and the lighting, and a shade structure over the cook. All of it runs under the terrace, so it is designed with the garden and laid before the paving goes down, not chased in afterwards.
We also look at the wind on your plot: the grill goes where the smoke blows away from the table and the house, not across them.
Part of the garden, not an add-on
The best outdoor kitchens sit in a zone with the dining table, the shade and the pool or lawn in view, and they are designed with the rest of the garden so the levels, the paving and the lighting meet properly. An outdoor kitchen is usually one element of a whole villa garden; on its own, with the terrace and shade around it, it comes within one area done properly. Either way it is priced from your own plot, line by line, after the free visit, not a number on a web page.
Questions we get asked
What is the best counter material for an outdoor kitchen in Dubai?
Stone or a dense porcelain that tolerates heat and does not stain. We avoid timber carcasses and indoor worktops; they fail in the sun.
Can the outdoor kitchen have a grill, a sink and a fridge?
Yes. The services it needs (gas or power for the grill, water and drainage for the sink, power for the fridge and lighting) are planned with the garden and their routes laid before the paving, so nothing is chased in or surface-mounted later.
Does the kitchen need shade?
The cook does. We design a pergola or shade structure over the grill and the table so the kitchen is usable in the evening from May to October.
Do you build an outdoor kitchen on its own?
As part of one area done properly (the kitchen with the terrace and shade around it) priced from your own plot, line by line, after the free visit. Most of the kitchens we build are part of a whole garden.
